A Family, a 3D Printer, and a Passion for Making
Roc 3D Printing started the way a lot of good things do — with a gift. Years ago my brother gave our family a 3D printer, and what was meant as a fun home hobby quickly turned into something the whole family couldn't put down. We were printing everything: toys, replacement parts for things around the house, gifts for friends, projects we didn't even know we needed until we saw them come off the bed.
That hobby caught fire. One printer became two, then more, and every member of the family found their own favorite part of the process — whether it was designing, slicing, babysitting a long print, or finishing and painting parts for a neighbor. What had started as a single gift became a shared passion across the whole household.
Friends and neighbors started asking if we could help with their own projects — a replacement part, a custom gift, a batch of promo items for an event. We kept saying yes, and before long we realized we had something more than a hobby. We had a real local 3D printing business rooted right here in Rochester.
Today Roc 3D Printing is a family-run shop in the truest sense. Even our kids are on the team — helping pack orders, sanding and finishing parts, troubleshooting stubborn prints, and learning what it takes to run a real business. They're not just watching; they're part of every print that goes out the door.
That family-first approach is why we do this the way we do. Every project is handled by people who care whether it turns out right — because our name, and our family, is on it. When you work with Roc 3D Printing, you're not a ticket in a queue. You're working with a family that's genuinely excited to help bring your idea to life.
What We Print On
A mix of FDM and SLA hardware tuned for different jobs — large-format engineering parts, fine-detail miniatures, and everything in between. (If you'd like to see the full equipment list, just ask.)
Bambu Lab X1 Carbon
256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume, multi-material AMS (up to 16 colors / materials per print), CoreXY motion at production speeds. Our workhorse for engineering plastics and multi-color promo work.
Prusa MK4 / MK4S
Reliable, repeatable, and forgiving. The printer we trust for tight-tolerance functional parts and long unattended overnight runs.
Formlabs Form 3+
Resin printing for miniatures, jewelry, dental models, and any job where you need 0.05 mm features and a glass-smooth surface straight off the printer.
Seven Material Families
PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, Nylon, TPU, and SLA resin — six engineering plastics plus high-detail resin. Specialty composites (carbon-fiber-filled, glow-in-the-dark, wood-fiber) on request.
Post-Processing Bay
Support removal, sanding, vapor smoothing for ABS, primer + paint, threaded inserts, and assembly. Most parts ship ready to use; finished display work is available on request.
Inspection & Tools
Calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, and a stocked hardware bench. Every batch is dimensionally checked before it leaves the shop — no surprises when your parts arrive.
The Values Behind Every Print
Quality First
We don't cut corners. Every part gets the same attention to detail whether it's a single prototype or a run of 100. Your reputation depends on the quality of the parts you use, and we take that seriously.
Speed That Matters
We understand that time is money. Our standard 2–7 day turnaround and rush options are designed to keep your projects moving. Local Rochester pickup in Spencerport makes it even faster.
Honest Communication
We'll tell you if a different material, design change, or approach would give you better results, even if it means a smaller order. We're in this for long-term relationships, not one-time transactions.
Sustainability
3D printing is inherently more sustainable than traditional manufacturing: less material waste, no tooling, and on-demand production. We prioritize eco-friendly materials like PLA and recycle print waste whenever possible.
